Christmas and such

Friday the 18th was such a crazy crazy day.  Lee, Luke and I went to Andrew's preschool Christmas program.  It was Step by Step and so much fun.  Then the little boys and I headed to the school to watch the kids sing.  They walked around to different class rooms and sang Christmas songs.  I am just so so glad that Choir is over.  We had to take the kids three days a week since Thanksgiving.  It was hard but it totally paid off.  Then we had a dentist appointment for the three older kids.  It was Andrew's first appointment and he had so much fun he keeps asking to go back to the dentist.  Then we came back home and since it was Lee's last day of work he had left early.  We were home less then an hour and then headed to  my work Christmas party.  We took the older kids but decided not to take the little boys and I think that plan worked out well.

The following day we had our final indoor soccer game.  Four months of soccer are over.  Seems like forever.  Lacrosse will start in a few months.  Then we had some friends and Lee's cousin over to celebrate Lee's birthday.  We played some games and ate some yummy food.  We had some laughs.

Monday was Lee's birthday and he spend most the day working on my mom's dishwasher that still isn't done.  We did manage to find some time to go shopping which was nice.

Tuesday Lee started his new job.  He loves it so far.  Although it comes with a raise we will have some significant increases.  Parking, more gas, health insurance nearly doubled.  But it is such a great opportunity.

Christmas was good although bittersweet.  It was the last Christmas in my mom's house.  But all the grandkids and all my sisters were there.  Lots of noise and chaos and I loved it.  My aunt came over as well.  Kids were spoiled and although in the past I have thought about cutting back I have decided that it isn't that big of a deal if one day a year we go over board.  I was spoiled as well as Lee.

The best present of all was Lee made the kids blankets.  He put so much time and effort into them and they turned out so well.  He is now going to make one for our newest nephew.  I am going to get the material this week. Thinking red and not sure with some other print not sure what.  Maybe hearts.

I have another post I am going to write about 2015.  But life is good.  We have been so blessed.

This week was a Struggle

This has been a tough week. I worked some extra hours which were only five hour shifts but were still were time away from the kids. Kids are at their breaking point and wether or not they know it they need schedules and some stablness. School starts Tuesday and comments about how people hope my kids dont kill their teachers with COVID is neither helpful or accurate. Plus we had a budget meeting after months of no meetings. In which we found out that we had once again over spent in August. Which could have been stopped if we would have known earlier in the month. I sent $1500 to student loans. Andrew turned eight yesterday and I am so thankful for him. He is become such a deep thinker and asks these amazing questions that I don't always have the answers to. The meds have helped slow him down but he is still crazy Andrew. We upped the medications and it was like he was on speed. He couldn't sleep and was kind of zombie like. Then there has been a few moments wher

The one you feed...

A few weeks ago Lee text me this story.  One evening, an elderly cherokee brave told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. he said "my son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all. one is evil. it is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. the other is good. it is joy, peace love, hope serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith." the grandson though about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "which wolf wins?..." the old cherokee simply replied, "the one that you feed"  One I have heard 100 times but one that I needed at that moment although I didn't know it.  There have been several situations that have happened these past few weeks and I keep thinking of that story and I have to remind myself which wolf I am feeding.
