Teaching....

Jake got his report card today.  He has some areas to keep working on but he is getting there.  But his teacher said, "I love having Jacob in class his smile makes the day so much better."  I love love Jake's teacher.  Friday's school board meeting went well.  The board loved meeting the kids and the parents.  We talked about how far the kids had come and how well they were doing.  Hearing the teacher talk about what they were doing to help these kids read was amazing to me.  These teachers love the kids and really want them to succeed.  This isn't just a job to them.  We have decided to request Jake's teacher for Victoria next year.  I really think that she will see Victoria for her own little personality and not "Jake's little sister".  In other news I have 19 hours left of internship.  I really don't know what I will do with my Saturdays.  We are considering a weekend trip over President Day.  The way things work out we will have a fou

Book Review-Soul Print by Mark Batterson

This book was a struggle for me to get through.  It made lots of really good points but, it was all things that I had heard before in a book I just recently read.  The whole thing is about finding out what God's calling is for you but, I didn't feels as though it gave a good clear way to find out what that was. Perhaps if I had not just read a book with similar ideas this book would have been interesting to me.  The book referred to David of the bible through out.  Which in my opinion may not have been the best example to use of somebody who found God's calling for himself.

January 2011

So what have I done this past month.  Well school started back and it is overwhelming.  I have 19 hours left my internship and it is bitter sweet that I won't be there every week. But I am scheduled to work one day in March and several in April around Easter.  Our money situation is starting to turn around. We only have one credit car and our bank loan left.  I am feeling like we have more money to spend on things that we have been putting off for a while.  I know student loans are going to come due.  But for now I am going to enjoy not having them.   Lee's cousin stopped by tonight and gave us the dates for the bi-annual family reunion on the beach.  Yup I will still be in school.  Not sure if we will even be able to go.  Plus the trip will be super expenisive and as much as I look forward to a week sitting on the warm beach in southern Cali I am not willing to go into debt for it and I am not willing to postpone my graduation a semester either.  I am sure in the next six mo

Jakers....

Jake's birthday was last week.  He got like four celebrations out of the whole deal.  It was just the way it happened.  Anyway, I am so proud of him.  He is doing well in kindergarten.  His teacher has requested that he give a little speech to the school board.  He went from being one of the weakest readers in his class to be the top reader in his class.  He is smart and adorable.  Kindergarten has really mellowed him for the better.  He is still goofy stubborn Jake but he is becoming more helpful and more creative.  So this year Jake: 1) Played on a soccer team 2) Took gymnastics 3) Started Kindergarten 4) Went to Bear Lake 5) Went to Texas  He is a great kid and we can't wait to his where his life takes him.

Taking a Stand

Book Review The New Christians I liked this book. Although the title makes it something that I would not normally read.  But, I liked how the book had some statistics in in but didn't make it boring.  It was really a motivating book about how as Christians we need to start taking a stand for what we believe in.  Of course this could be applied to anything.  We should all take a stand for what we believe in.  *I was sent a free copy of this book to read and review.  I am not compensated for my honest review.

Delayed Flight Random Thoughts

I am sitting in the Sea-Tac airport waiting for my flight which has been delayed not a huge delay but enough that I have time to reflect on the past few days.  Coming up here was the best thedecision that I could have made. A case at work went crazy and there is a possibility of some huge changes. Also, it left Lee being a single parent after doing that for all the week of Christmas.  But there is no denying I was where I needed to be.  I am leaving Sea-Tac feeling refreshed and ready to start a week full of school, gymnastics, dance classes, work, and bills.  It looks like I will be completing my internship towards the end of the month.  I will still work PRN for the hospital. It will be nice to have Saturdays back again.
