12 and stuff

Jake turned 12.  We decided to go skiing in McCall because the kids can ski for free and Lee likes to ski with his dad once year.  Okay he would love to do it more then once a year however not really practical.  We drove up to McCall on his birthday which I felt wasn't the most excited way to spend the day.  But he did get out of school early and opened his gifts before we left town  He made the decision to have his birthday dinner and cake with his grandfather and aunt the following day.  Which didn't quite happen.  I baked the angel food cake the night before.  It over flowed and made a mess of the oven  (so glad it wasn't ours) .  Then when it was cooling upside down it fell off the counter on to the floor and although it still tasted good (according to Lee and the kids) it no longer looked like a cake.  So then I asked Lee to get one from the store. So after skiing  he  came back with another mix.  I was annoyed.  But I cooked it and then Lee turned off the oven.

SNOWPOCALYPSE

I don't mind the snow but I mind feeling trapped and I mind no sun.  The kids had six snow days in eight days.  At least three of those were because the roads were so bad even though there hadn't been snow in a few days.  Plows broke down and there wasn't enough to get to the neighborhoods.  Snow on the ground since December 5th.  Record for Boise. And still counting. On January 3rd I flew to Phoenix. First day back to school for the kids. Jake stayed home sick.  The following day reports from my friends of the all the snow in Nampa was insane. Worse weather in 30 years.  Or was it since 1995.  Or one report said 1896.  What ever it doesn't matter.  I was sitting in the sun.  Surgery went well. Stayed for three days. Every day was a hospital or doctor visit.  Became an expert driver on Phoenix freeways.  Didn't crash the brand new car.  My friend didn't end up in the hospital although she got pretty close.  Emotionally draining trip.  Landed in Boise in the
