Ten minutes and GO

The author of another blog I follow wrote for ten minutes just to see what will happen.  So I am going to do that because my head is spinning right now.  Yesterday I took on the position of the PTO President for the 2017-18 school year.  There were lots of reasons that I decided to that.  I may regret the decision in a few months but for right now I think it will be doable.  Last weekend was insanity.  So many things going on on Saturday.  Really one of those days that you wonder how we got it all done.  Scout fundraiser raise quite a bit of money which is good.  Just wish the ward support the girls in the same way it supports the boys.  School and life is winding down although our summer will be busy it will be busy in a different way.  We have a few vacations planned and I think getting away for a few days here and there is a good idea.  WE have our first camping trip planned in a few weeks and I am kind of nervous ...

This week

Ballet is over.  It was amazing and although I am sad that it is over I am glad we are no longer giving up every Saturday.  Victoria said it was a great opportunity to learn how much effort goes into a ballet.  Up next...Recital.  Jake had originally decided to give up his last track meet in order to go on a campout.  He is now rethinking that decision and there is a chance the campout won't happen so he may not have to make that choice anyway.  Track is the craziest thing ever.  Lots of sitting a waiting to watch Jake run a few minutes.  But it is a great sport.  One that he can be doing years from now.  I had gone back and forth on taking the kids to Idaho Falls for the temple open house but I at this point have decided not to go.  In part because it is eight hours of driving for something that I know longer believe in.  And right now I am okay with that.  I so want to believe again.  I so want be able to say...

Compassion -Prince of Peace Day #3

One of the assignments for today was send a card to somebody.  I am cheating because I got the response today.   This one kind of it home today.  I found out through Facebook about a family member who was going through a difficult time.   Last week I felt inspired to send her an Easter card with a gift card for gas.  It wasn't a big deal to me but I felt it needed to be done.  I haven't been incredible close to my sibling in laws and stuff like this kind of stresses me out.  But I listened and I did it.  Today she sent me this touching text about how thankful she was and how the gift card came at the perfect time.   It was one of those situations where it truly wasn't me who came up with the idea to send this gift card and I actually put it off for several days before I did it because "the still small voice" was getting louder and more annoying.   It isn't hard to show compassion.  (okay well sometimes it is)  The ...

Palm Sunday-Faith-Prince of Peace

Why do I believe in God? There are two main reasons.  1) I have felt him there. 2) I have seen his power. I think of God as a parent who doesn't always step in to help.  Although sometimes I wish he would when he doesn't.  I do also believe that often times God shows up as another person.  A friend or family member or even a stranger that shows up and shows God's love.  I felt his power after Luke's accident.  I have no doubt he sent angels (my dad) to keep Luke safe.  I am not sure why Luke was saved that day.  But he was.  Maybe I will never know.  Sometimes I think he was saved because of me.  Because God knew that it would have tore my marriage apart and destroyed my relationship with my mom.  But maybe it was because Luke has some great purpose. I know there is lots of evil in the world.  So much war and hate and children starving.  But even in the worst situations there is still good.  Someti...

Potty training

I would have never guessed that Duke would have been so hard to potty train.  Jake was the easiest.  Woke up one day and decided he was done.  The other two weren't so easy but they got there with in a few weeks.  So I thought that Duke was done with diapers.  He had gone two days with out accidents and was doing well.   Then he quit.  Just decided that toilets were not for him.  Didn't matter what I did.  I bribed, I left him in underwear I put in on the toilet ever hour.  Nothing.  He didn't care.  Then.... Last Sunday Lee stayed home with the kids while I was at work.  Lee put Duke on the toilet and would not let him off until he peed.  The first time he sat there for over an hour and then 30 and then 5.  Every two hours.  That was a week ago.  We have had some accidents and I have to reminded at least every two hours and I still bribe (sort of).  But he is staying dry all night and doe...

Win-Win

So for the past several months I have struggled to get our house under control.  In part because I started doing PRN on the Behavioral Health Unit and working more.  So I called my sister and offered to pay her to come over and help me declutter once a week.  It went so well that I have also asked her to come over and clean my bathrooms and kitchen every other week.  Win-Win.  She needs the money and I need somebody to come tell me to get rid of everything.  I am noticing a difference and it has only been two weeks.  (Three times).  We started track a few weeks ago and are still in the middle of dance and scouting.  Jake went on an overnight campout last night and is leaving again tomorrow with my mom to go see the Falls and then Monday they are heading to the cabin.  We will meet up on Tuesday and Jake will spend the rest of the week with us at the inlaws.  I think.  Weather isn't scheduled to be great.  So still...
